These were the most popular games across the British Isles, and northern Europe, before Chess was invented! Both belong to a family of games called “Tafl” games. There are many variations, but Tafl games always involve a single king and his defenders in the center of the board, surrounded by an army of attackers twice their number. Our oak Hnefatafl (“King's Table”) board is handmade, and includes simulated bone playing pieces. The Fidchell game is played on a portable fabric board, and comes with a handy storage bag. Just roll it up and go! Each set includes several historic variations of the rules. Made in USA.
